6:00–6:15 PM – Group work on descending slurs (Slur Studies from The Gift of Fire, in reverse order).
6:15–6:30 PM – Review Playground Suite Movements 3 (Carousel) and 5 (Trampoline).
6:30–7:00 PM – Rehearsal of The Gift of Fire.
7:00–7:30 PM – Sectional rehearsal of new piece Held Fast (score and parts above).

String crossing from the elbow - oblique string attack - Tone

6:10–6:50 – Playground Suite review (10 minutes per movement):

Movement 6: Trampoline
Movement 7: Climbing Frame

6:50–7:00 – Stretch break
7:00–7:15 – Gift of Fire

Use quartet assignments for this piece (see below for seating assignment) as follows: Part 1, Part 2A, Part 2B (assigned as Part 3), and Part 3A (assigned as Part 4). Part 4 in the score will not be used. Trevor will play bass.

• Begin with the A B C sections
• Review overall structure
• Eliminate “Swing” and rhythm work for this session
